Painting a radiator

I have a large double panel radiator in the living room that pretty much looks like this https://www.diy.com/departments/flomasta-white-type-22-double-panel-radiator-w-1400mm-x-h-600mm/5059340421681_BQ.prd

It's at least 15 years old doesn't looks very nice.

Can I paint it grey? If yes, are the paints toxic, especially seeing that the radiator will be warm?

Has anyone done this? Would you recommend?

Thank you

My dad who is a central heating installer painted my radiator pink when I was a child. The company still paint radiators for some clients but I think we use a special paint

Thanks, so it can be done, good to know. However, the paint, is it likely to be toxic? I wouldn't generally mind too much as any small will wear off soon enough but as it's a radiator that gets heated up, I'm wondering if that can release toxins in a different way to say painting a cupboard or kitchen chair.

Did you see the link I posted? You can by radiator paint. And no it’s not toxic - radiator paint is good though and holds its colour well and goes onto metal nicely.

you can repaint it, thats fine but i would say if your rad is 15 years old, buy a new one and then paint that the colour you want. Only saying this because that 15 year old rad could go any time, and rather than spending time and money now painting something that might pack it in, you are better of just getting a new rad, if budget permits and painting it the colours you want. Like the rad you sent, if that is the correct size you can pick them up for 140 ish like from here, or screwfix etc. Just thinking more long term.
