Can anyone help me with hanging curtains?

I'm currently putting curtain up on my bifold doors. I've cot a curtain pole and because the curtains can only fit to one side they are pencil pleats fitted onto rings. The problem I'm having it they don't seem to hang neatly if that makes sense I just wondered if there is some trick I'm missing.

For pencil pleat curtains you need to pull up the gathers to about the same width as the window. These are the strings on the back of the header tape at the top. Pull all 3 strings together, then tie off and tuck the spare string behind the tape - this will let you flatten them out again if you ever need to get them cleaned.

Then space the curtain hooks evenly along the tape - usually every 4 or 5 pleats.

if you search "how to hang pencil pleat curtains" you should be able to find a video.

Edit - if this isn't the problem then perhaps a picture would help?

Once you have hung them arrange them in folds and tie them in place for a day, this encourages them to hang neatly when they are open. I’m not sure I’ve explained this at all well.

This.

Hang the curtains, draw them back into tidy pleats and tie them loosely with a scarf to hold them in place. Leave them for a few days while their weight drops.

They should keep this shape every time you draw them back, in future.

Thank you I've done all that.
