Colours help!

We have a dark brown leather three piece suite which we've had for 20 years and the sofa is falling to bits but I can't find anything I like to replace it with that we can afford at the moment.

We have been offered a free mid tan leather sofa which we could replace it with for now but I'm worried the mismatch with the dark brown armchairs will look rubbish in the lounge?

Can anyone suggest how to 'dress' them (throw/cushion colours) that might help to unite the two colours of sofa?! The walls and curtains are cream and the carpet is beige.

Can you paint the walls? Beige and two shades of brown sounds like a lot. The two different sofas would be fine but I'd go with a nice bold jewel colour on the walls to liven it up

This might help. I wondered about making a feature colour wall behind the sofa and then bringing that colour to the cushions of the chairs.

Thank you both, yes-we could paint the walls! Lots of the mismatched sofas I've seen seem to be tan and cream rather than tan and brown which is annoying.

I disagree, I think you need to lean into the browns. What other furniture do you have in the room? What about painting the ceiling brown, having some pieces of light wood or rattan furniture (toning with the tan sofa) then beige textured cushions on each sofa.

As long as you use both the brown and tan elsewhere in the room it will make sense.
