White Cotton Bedding Recommendations - Crisp and Cool Feel!

Please help to find some new cotton bedding. Currently have M&S Egyptian Cotton 230 thread cotton but starting to fray after many years. Reordered the same sheet and quality has significantly deteriorated. The set I have is excellent quality, smooth percale and with a crisp/cool feel. The new set received couldn't have been more different, literally rough with micro bobbles in the fabric all over.

I ordered Costco 800 hotel collection range, but far too heavy/satin for me. Any suggestions?

Just wanted to revisit the thread to say that Mitre linen is good for basics - they supply hotels and also have a Royal Warrant - only thing to watch is that pricing is ex VAT.

AgnethaF · 03/01/2026 14:27

revisiting this thread…. I’m also trying to replicate my old 400 thread count M&S Egyptian cotton bedding that was crispy.

Rise and Fall - don’t recommend. Not crispy at all.

Costco 800 thread count. Not crispy.

Back to the drawing board. M&S have percale. Is this crispy? I’ve avoided it because it wasn’t 400 thread count or over.

LoveWine123 · 03/01/2026 15:28

@AgnethaF the higher the thread count, the softer the sheets are and less crisp. If you want the crisp feel, look for cotton percale. I recommend visiting a white company shop just to feel the difference between the sateen vs percale weave and the various thread counts. They have everything on display. They are also good at explaining the difference to you and advise you which type to buy based on what you are looking for. You can then buy from another company if you prefer, but I found the information very helpful.

We have white bedding and got it from Dusk a few years ago. Still in immaculate condition and just gets softer and softer.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 03/01/2026 16:09

Marks and spencer or the White Company

yoshiblue · 03/01/2026 16:59

My current bedding is 230 Egyptian cotton percale. Reordered last year and the quality has taken a significant nosedive so I’d avoid.

Although I started this thread I’m not overly committed to crisp cotton bedding, I just want good quality sheets. I’m hoping one of the Tielle options will work.

M&S Autograph

Thanks for resurrecting your old thread! I came on here to ask this exact thing. It seems like there are too many options! Hoping for a January sale find

I don’t have bedding from the White Company but on my lunch break I like to go into the shop and stroke it and can confirm it feels like heaven! 😁

Miranda65 · 03/01/2026 23:17

I also use The White Company. I also send my sheets etc out to be laundered, as they come back like proper hotel-quality sheets.

yoshiblue · 04/01/2026 14:52

I went into White Company today and agree using samples to get an idea of percale vs satin. The percale ones are like what we have at the mo, I’m interested to price up vs Tielle.

Cologne & Cotton is lovely albeit steep. I have this and Fleur and they are such good fabric https://www.cologneandcotton.com/mariette

We have this set too and it’s the best bedding I have ever had. I need to get another set really as I look forward to putting it on and hate having to use our “alternate” set!

A quick update from me. I have just received my order from Tielle - the quality is fantastic so I’m very pleased with the purchase. I had also ordered a percale set from the White Company (single row) and it was so thin and transparent when it arrived that I returned it immediately. Very disappointed with the quality for the price. You can see the label of the pillowcases through the thin fabric. I had ordered a brushed cotton set from WC previously and that was beautiful but I don’t think I’ll risk it again having seen the quality of what arrived now. It will be Tielle again next time.

I’d recommend Rise and Fall . Very good quality . The deep fitted sheets have broad elastic all the way around and don’t slip at all .

Which Tielle set did you choose @LoveWine123? I’m still awaiting a swatch pack as I think the other one got lost in the post.

My swatch book also took ages to arrive. I got the Microstripe and I also really liked the Herringbone. I saw the Microstripe in one of their Instagram posts and it looked beautiful so I went with that. It’s great in real life too. It’s definitely not crisp though, it’s sateen weave but I think I have made my peace that I won’t find exactly the crispness I was after but at least the sheets are great quality. I quite liked the herringbone

yoshiblue · 15/01/2026 20:00

Thanks! I’m not in too much of a rush, they have supposedly resent one a couple of days ago.

Im so glad you’re happy with them 😍

White company or belledorm.

zaraza · 17/01/2026 18:46

Would recommend Givan’s. Their 400 count bedding is just right, solid but soft and it too heavy. Also really like their hem stitch borders on some of the duvet covers as well.

Just out of interest do you have to iron cotton bedding?

pontipinemum · 17/01/2026 19:55

I'm after buying some from very.ie I haven't slept in them yet but they feel great, even before washing. Great price right now too on the 400 thread count ones

I have always had White Company bed linen in the past but the last lot I ordered was a great disappointment in terms of quality. The fabric on the pillowcases was also ‘twisted’, in that even if you ironed them carefully they would not lay flat, it was if they had been cut incorrectly.

I am still on the hunt for quality so will have a look at some of the ones suggested on this thread.
