Trying this out on ChatGPT as this is the idea I have for my new living room. Which way looks better?

Both have white walls and navy walls so I didn’t vote. But I think the one with the white rug is nicest- mainly because the rug keeps it nice and bright and airy.

But the poll specifies tv on which wall. White wall for me.

Yes I definitely love the lighter rug!! Great minds!

Yes sorry I missed that. @Kitchenbattle Definitely tv on white wall for me.

MotherofPearl · 21/06/2025 18:37

Everything about Option 1 is better. I prefer the TV not to dominate a room too much, so having it slightly set back as in Option 1 is much nicer. Also looks lighter and somehow more spacious with Option 1.

itsgettingweird · 21/06/2025 18:37

White wall and lighter rug for me too!

Glitchymn1 · 21/06/2025 18:38

Option 1

beetr00 · 21/06/2025 18:44

option 1 @Kitchenbattle

definitely do not put sofa in front of the window.

unsevered67 · 21/06/2025 18:46

Option 1 no contest

Kitchenbattle · 21/06/2025 19:05

Option 1 seems to be the winner 🙌

With window dressings open, which wall does the sun hit if any? Or maybe it's too far from window?
If you move the sofas (or any random seat) to both places, which feels better to sit in?
I hate sitting with my back to a window, it makes the room feel gloomier I think!
If just on looks id say option 1

Out of interest, @Kitchenbattle what prompts did you use? I've been trying to use ChatGPT for interior design visualisation but it seems to want to change the dimensions of the rooms when it shares an output.

menopausalfart · 21/06/2025 19:47

Blue as the TV doesn't dominate so much.

I put in a picture of the room and literally said what colour scheme etc I would like 🙌

I prefer the TV against the darker (blue) wall as it looks less dominant. However, I do like the TV recessed a bit more as per option 1. I'm not a fan of the lighter rug, but that's just my preference as I'm not a fan of pale rugs/carpets.

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 21/06/2025 21:56

The tv against the dark wall makes the whole room look darker and smaller. I much prefer 1, with the coffee table and what looks suspiciously like a stunt pineapple until you look closer and see it is just a plant in a pot.😂
