1930s house - neutral colour

I care for an elderly relative (EPICF - elderly person I care for). They have a neglected previously hoarded house.

And now the predictable has happened and one of the ceilings has collapsed. There are two others that need work.

I'm going to need to get the affect rooms redecorated.

EPICF has at best a very limited time left living in their house, at worst they will never get back there (they have had to move out due to the ceiling collapse). So I will be redecorating entirely based on selling the damn place.

What is the current neutral paint colour of choice that will appel to prospective buyers?

I'm very out of touch as I still love pure brilliant white but this seems too stark for a bright and sunny South facing period property. It's 1930s with lots of period features including lovely woodwork/panelling in the hallway (natural). The hall is one of the rooms that needs decorated.

Something like dulux Egyptian cotton would be nice.

Any kind of off white IMO.
I would steer clear of the current trend for grey everywhere.

I have an Arts and Crafts style 1920s house - if you have original wood panelling/floors and other features from that style yours may be similar.

I like plainish but not cold coloured walls as I prefer to bring the colour and design from the furnishings and artworks (of which I probably have too many). I have used quite a lot of Slaked Lime (Little Greene) as it seems to work in every aspect of room and is a soft shade which complements wood fittings/flooring. The decorators like LG to work with.

Its pricier than Dulux but coverage is very good (and you may be able to get it colour matched).

Have you considered Dulux Timeless?

The last place I rented had a lot of Dulux Just Walnut, very relaxing it was.

I’ve got Timeless in a south facing room at this flat and it’s a nice, non confrontational cream, bright but not at all stark.

Sounds like a tough situation for your relative - hope it’s not a terribly stressful process for you
