Hello building work has just started on a rear extension including open plan dining kitchen and utility room. We live in a mid terrace with no side access so everything coming through the house 😱. Just after helpful tips really on how to navigate it all when the original kitchen goes etc. Expecting a lot of dust grime and stress! Thanks in advance of tips

Buy a cheap Henry type hoover, builders merchants sell them, plaster dust kills hoovers. We got some plastic door covers with zips to try and keep the worst of the dust out. Your builder should cover the floors up with plastic.

buy a little portable induction hob and an air fryer.

see if they can plumb your washing machine in somewhere.

I’d second these ideas. Try to live upstairs as much as you can. Decide where you can set up a mini kitchen with microwave and washing up area - a bit like camping. Would also have some shoes you wear only in the dust such as some crocs that you can take off and on easily; create a sanctuary that’s dust free somewhere if you can! And lower your standards in terms of what you eat, the microwave is your friend. Hope it all goes well and it will defo be worth it in the end!

Instead of a Henry get a vacuum cleaner from a builder's merchant store. This sort of thing but do some research.

See if you can find a laundry company to pick up your dirty washing and bring it back clean and dry. We found the dust unbearable and eventually moved to an Airbnb.

toastie maker
air fryer
microwave
paper plates/cups etc in bulk
wooden cutlery
Use a dust brush thing on clothes

remember the noise and mess = progress (well this is what I tell myself, I’ve lived in lots of building sites)

Second idea about crocs/sliders for indoor use only
