Matress recommendations needed!

After 4 years on a second hand (and very lumpy / springs in your hip) small double, my partner and I are finally moving to a bigger house and are extremely excited to invest in a luxurious king size bed! However, I never realised quite how expensive mattresses were! Because of this, I really want to make sure I’m getting a great mattress for the money (but also don’t want to spend £1k+!!!)

Do the likes of Otty, Emma, Simba, Origin etc live up to the hype and stand the test of time as I’m reading very mixed reviews? Or is it best to just go down the classic bed shop route?

Thanks in advance!

I have always had IKEA mattresses. We ended up being given a new one from a friend 12 years ago, and have only used them since. Great quality, comfortable. Our current one we’ve had 6 years.
definitely don’t discount them because it’s Ikea. I don’t get them on the basis of cost

We bought a new mattress 2 years ago. We had a very fun afternoon trying out different mattresses at an independent bed shop, and getting advice from the man there who knows more about mattresses than you ever thought there was to know.

We paid the mattress off at £100/ month for a year, but it had more than paid for itself because I have stopped going to the physio about my back every 6 weeks!

It's worth spending some time thinking about this, and I definitely wouldn't recommend buying a mattress you'd never lain on.

We tried an emma and I hated it and ended up sending it back. I now have a herdy sleep and it's brilliant.

Ikea are OK if you can't afford a herdy sleep but they might not last as long before they get saggy so I guess it could be a false economy? Hopefully some people with IKEA mattresses will come along and update us.

Our Emma is 5 years old and fine. I had a really bad back from our old worn out mattress.
Don’t they come with a 100 day guarantee so if you don’t like it they will collect it and refund?
