Carpets..how old is too old?

I’ve realised our carpets must be at least 20 years old!
they still look okay- I think. I usually have a good eye for decoration, but appreciate I may be as susceptible to carpet blindness as anyone.
they are an oatmeal twist and have worn really well. Should I replace them anyway?

Absolutely not if they are still fine!

Our hall and stairs one is about 25 years old, it hasn't really worn, I keep thinking of changing it but can't really be bothered, I did look once but the carpet I liked was about £2k and I haven't really seen much else that's better than what we have

I agree ,just had hall and stair carpet replaced .It was similar age and no signs of wear .
But it was grubby and had lighter patches (not bleach ok I suppose ) where I'd tried to clean stains .

Oh okay, thanks
I do get them professionally cleaned every other year
