Changing knows on bedroom drawers and wardrobes

Anyone done this?

We've inherited fitted drawers and wardrobes from previous owners. They're fine but the handles make them look dated.

Considering using the ceramic fake vintage ones sold on Amazon. So rather than a handle there would be two knobs, as removing the handle would leave two holes.

Any thoughts on this?

Sorry titles should say 'knobs'

would two knobs directly next to each other not look a bit weird? I suppose you could put a bit of leather between them or something to make the look seem intended?

you could polyfilla both holes and sand / paint everything before drilling a new hole in the centre for the new knobs.

OP, I’ve changed handles to knobs on a chest of drawers in order to update. I think you would have to see what the knobs look like on your chest of drawers - it’s possible you might need a different sort of handle, depending on how close together the holes are, but you will only find out by trying them.

What are they made out of? Could you fill the holes and drill new ones for the knobs?

Watellz · 20/05/2025 07:28

Unsure what they're made of but are like 'wrapped' kitchen cupboards. Could not be painted so filling in holes isn't an option

@Watellzgoogle ceramic pull handles, there are options similar to what you are looking for but handles needing the two holes you have.

I know matching handles is tricky. You can get flexible handles with a strip of rope / leather/ ribbon.. would that go atall?

How far apart are the holes?

columnatedruinsdomino · 19/06/2025 08:29

When I upgraded handles into brass knobs I stuck a small round jewel underneath where the second hole was.
