What colour curtains for lounge?

I’m really bad at design and colour coordinating. My lounge is a work in progress but slowly coming together. Dark brown couch, flooring and tv unit. Black and gold mirror, clock. Black and beige accessories. Cream/beige/lightish brown rug, cushions and throw. What colour curtains? I thought black may be too dark but cream too light?

What colour are your walls?

White, not allowed to paint

Hard to suggest without knowing the style.

You could get a pattern, floral, stripes, or plain colour. If cream feels too light what about a beige (sounds as though you have a mid-90s coffee/caramel palette so something between the lightest and darkest brown you already have).

You need an injection of colour in my opinion. Maybe a nice mustard yellow?

I will look into this thank you. I think I’m finding it more hard as this is so different to what I’d usually go for, we had the sofa given to us so had to work around that unfortunately

Yes depends if you want a dash of colour or to stick with neutrals. Plain curtains or with a print?

Given the colours you have, I did think mustard might be the way forward. Or a bricky terracotta.

But then I thought - you have to live there - who are you decorating for - you or an imaginary audience who may never visit? If the second is more realistic - just do what you’d like! Have the curtains and the colour and the patterns if it makes you happy - the idea of decorating a house for an unseen ‘audience’ is a bit mad really.

Try and keep the place as free from clutter as you can because that really makes a difference.

I think if you can’t guess at a colour scheme and need to ask people on the internet you might need to choose something easy going and simple to get you started.

Yes I do like it minimal to be honest
