Mattress with topper attached

Our mattress is around 6 years old and has a mattress topper attached to the top.

This topper has now sagged and become uncomfortable, as this is already like a mattress topper can we get another topper to put on top to make more comfortable or do you think it’s time for a new mattress?

Ours did this we got a new mattress.

Thanks I had been hoping to save money by getting a topper but then I read online somewhere that it might not fix the problem.

The topper itself will be a better surface, but it will not be lying across a flat surface, so it will sag where the mattress sags,

Thank you. So it seems like it won’t fix our problem then.

Turn the mattress over. I have a fixed topper but turned it's recently and it's really good.

Is there a warrranty on the matttress? Six years doesn't seem like a long time.

Evermore7 · 22/04/2025 23:45

There’s no warranty that know of.

I didn't think that we could turn it over as I thought the base was just hard. I’ll check it in a bit when I go to bed thanks.

Our mattress should be turned regularly. Try it with a new topper once you have turned it over. M&S do really good ones.

I never heard of a pillow top mattress that could be turned over.

Would it help to rotate the mattress head to foot?

Evermore7 · 23/04/2025 08:30

I didn’t think you could turn the pillow top as I have felt the bottom and it is very hard. I rotate this mattress monthly but it is only then better for a day or so and then it is uncomfortable again.

@Evermore7 They obviously don’t make them for turning then. So a shortened life! We turn ours regularly and have a separate topper. It was a very expensive mattress but it’s still perfect. Maybe pay more and buy once?

ShrubRose · 23/04/2025 14:19

Yes, I think you're going to have to replace it. (:-(
Do you have something in mind?

Evermore7 · 24/04/2025 11:34

I’m not quite sure what to get next. This one was pocket springs with the pillow top that was wool which was meant to keep the bed cool but I think it actually was quite hot.

DH likes memory foam but I’m not sure.

Memory foam sleeps hot. Latex sleeps cool.
