Has anyone used fabric paint?

Hi, I'm thinking about a second hand sofa that's a bit grubby but otherwise great!

When i get it cleaned if it doesn't come up all that well (beige/cream) I'd be happy to have it a darker colour. Has anyone done this and does it work?

It has to be paint rather than in-wash as although the cushion covers aren't fixed, the frame covering is.

It seems also like the paints are also colourfast so any opinion on that for future cushion washing would be amazing.

Thanks!

I'm a bit out of date as I stopped playing with fabric paints years ago. But my thoughts are: Do these colourfast paints need to be set by ironing, which could be tricky. Transparent paints won't cover up any pattern, however dark they are and opaque paints will likely just sit on top of the fabric, looking stiff and crusty. But, as I say, I'm ood and you may be looking at a new product I haven't seen. It is unlikely any paint or dye will cover a stain, especially if greasy.

I was considering painting the fabric of one of my sofas.

There is a product called Fabricoat, which claims to work on all fabrics - you can't go lighter, though and patterns would still show through, I think..
It comes in many colours, mostly dark.

It is available on Amazon. Plenty of pictures in the reviews.
