Double bed for toddler?

I’m thinking of not bothering with a toddler bed and just getting my 2 year old a double. What do people think? Would he just fall out all the time?

I have a really bad back and I just think it would be easier to settle him to sleep/read a book/get in with him if he’s unwell if we had a nice comfy double?

We did this and no regrets. Ideal for resettling in night and can always use it for extra guests if needed too in future as well

Surely he’d be less likely to fall out, if he sleeps in the middle?

We never had a low down toddler bed type thing, or proper bed guards. We just rolled up a beach towel length ways and put it under the sheet along the edge of the bed to act as a little buffer and that stopped both of ours falling out.

We did this. Was great if we ever needed to sleep in with them when they were ill for example

Amazing thank you! Think I’ll go for it. Did you get a floor bed or just a regular one? Did you use a bed guard?

Fantastic idea for the buffer! Thank you xx

Perfect. Exactly what I was thinking. As he has space in his room I think it’s worth it. Thank you. X

Yep DS went straight from a cot to a small double. So much more comfy for settling, snuggles, sickness etc! Learnt my lesson from many a cold uncomfortable night lying on the floor next to dd cot bed!

We did this, was great! He’s 23 now and still uses a double when he comes home ☺️

If you’ve got the space, go for it!

We got a King Single, wish I had gone bigger!

My ds has a double, it's great for just hopping in for a bit when he needs a hug.

Would just caution that you may regret your decision when changing the sheets, washing sheets, and folding and putting away yet more sheets, and due to the volume of washing generated week to week, not to mention the amount a sickness bug can produce, you may decide that DC2 is only allowed a single.

Also did this, and agree on the sickness! Pool noodles under the sheet are great to act as buffers.

Very good point! Yet another double bed to change!
