We have a rental and are redoing the bathroom because of leak. Would you prefer a really big shower or a bath with a shower over it? Not enough room for a separate bath and shower.

thanks!

A bath with a shower over it every time

Offcom · 03/04/2025 19:24

A standalone shower

hopeishere · 03/04/2025 20:40

Ok. 50/50 so far!

Bath with shower, I don’t have a bath often but would hate to not have the option and I prefer shower over bath to cubicles.

Citygirl17 · 03/04/2025 21:49

Shower over bath.

SunnySideDeepDown · 03/04/2025 21:52

Bath with shower. We had a huge shower in our old home and the half that didn’t get wet just got dusty. It was wasted space.

Most families will want a bath.

skippy67 · 03/04/2025 21:53

Walk in shower.

unsync · 03/04/2025 22:20

If you want to rent to families with children, you'll need a bath. It's much easier to bathe small children.

hopeishere · 04/04/2025 07:37

It’s probably not a rental for families. More “young professionals”.

I like the baths with the square end for a shower overhead and proper screen.

EffortlesslyDecluttering · 04/04/2025 09:00

I like the square end and screen but much prefer the angles shower on the wall to the overhead type, especially don’t like those waterfall ones.

Marbledwhite · 04/04/2025 10:58

I think for young professionals a decent-sized walk-in shower.

Geneticsbunny · 05/04/2025 10:02

Bath

DisplayPurposesOnly · 05/04/2025 10:04

Big shower.

This is one of those things you'll never get any consensus on. The people who want baths really want them (which is fair enough).

MissedItByThisMuch · 05/04/2025 10:12

Rental for young professionals, definitely a walk in shower.

RuthTopp · 05/04/2025 10:22

In our house ( it is not a rental ) we did our bathroom about two years ago and put in both
At the beginning I was having more baths than showers , but now reverted back to showering .
As you say its more suitable for singles , couples rather than families , I'd say a shower is more convenient & what most people go for .

Mumwithbaggage · 05/04/2025 10:29

Big shower. We have a double size shower and a bath in our ensuite. I can't remember the bath ever being used.

Olika · 05/04/2025 10:38

If it’s big enough for a good size shower then I would go for a shower.

Roseshavethorns · 05/04/2025 10:45

Big shower.
I can't remember the last time anyone in our house had a bath.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 05/04/2025 10:51

Always better to have the choice so shower over bath

Brunocatmon · 05/04/2025 10:54

I bought a house last year that I'd been renting for a year.

It's a 4/5 bed house that only had 2 shower rooms. Before the ink had dried I'd employed builders to get a bathroom renovation.

I now have one shower room and a larger bathroom with a beautiful shower over the bath. Much more suited to family life if I want to sell too.

Marbledwhite · 05/04/2025 11:54

Brunocatmon

Your changes sound absolutely right for your large house.

The rental in question is not a family home, hence some of us would opt for a decent walk-in shower for young professionals.
