New windows what do I need to be aware off ?

I am just stating to get quotes for new windows, Patio door and I have no idea what I need to know when getting the quotes. is there any specific questions I need to ask, or any extras I need to ensure are in my quote. I have never replaced windows before and its a big expense and I want to make sure I do it right. it's just regular double glazing windows not sash or anything specialist. appreciate any advice you can offer.

Do the usual due diligence for a tradesman - personal recommendations, Which? trusted trader, etc.

We looked at local recommendations.
Stories of the big names pressure selling put me off.

FENSA registered as important.
Local showroom helped as I could visit.
We are also getting a front door and the one I chose online was not as nice in real life. I'd say view options if you can. Even basic windows had options for the shape of the frames etc.

Check carefully every window for scratches. We had 9 windows replaced last year and 3 of them had large scratches! Didn't see straight away as they were grubby because the fitters didn't clean them after fitting.

Best way to see this is clean them yourself asap after fitting.
