How to divide an open plan sitting/dining room

Has anyone used a Kallax as a room divider between an open plan sitting and dining room, please?
And do you think a 4 x 4 unit would be too small? Can't decide whether to go for the 5 x 5 unit, but don't want to lose airy feeling and natural light.

Depends how big the room is?...

What do IKEA say about stability ? If a peice of furniture is made to be freestanding, it will do fine. But Most bookcases and shelving units come with a warning that
‘This furniture must be fixed to the wall with the enclosed wall fastener.’

That’s from the IKEA description of Kallax…..

I think 4x4 will be too small. I'd go 5x5 and I don't think light will be a problem as you can just leave some of the holes / cubes empty (like having just a small ornament or vase of dried flowers) rather than filling all the cubes with Drona boxes or big items.

Thank you-I need to measure up tomorrow, but the kallax/divider would have a mixture of books and plants and storage inserts at the bottom.

As an alternative idea, would a screen suit your purposes, then you could fold it back if having larger groups around the table?
