Any ideas to improve my plain bathroom?

Planning to have a new bathroom put in in the future but for now any ideas on what I could do to spruce it up a bit and make it look a bit nicer? I'm rubbish at anything interior design!

The colour of the walls is making it look a bit dingy. Can't quite tell, doesn't look like tiles, so suspect it's wall panels?
I'd paint the bath panel white. If you use a suitable primer you can paint anything.
I'd probably also paint the walls outside of the splash zone. Maybe add a picture, mirror or shelving above the toilet and plants for a bit of greenery. Change the bathmat for a really bright colour, yellow or orange maybe.

@OttersAreMySpiritAnimalYes, it's all panelling. I had thought about painting but wasn't sure about how to go about it to get a good finish that will stay nice and be OK with moisture.

I would consider putting a sink and toilet unit in. A bit like in the picture, (once it has loaded) but not that colour.

You could paint the under sink cupboard. Olive green would look nice. Add a nice plant, colourful shower curtain and mat.

I wouldn’t replace the sink with something square - the round edges stop everything looking boxed in.

Leave it until you have moneya nd time to do it properly, it will motivate you to get on with it and save you spending money and time on a halfway house

I was going to say exactly what Maladie said. Hanging plants are a great idea as they don’t eat up floor space. And a picture over the loo - maybe something green/botanical to tie with the plants.

I wouldn’t paint the cupboard and I definitely wouldn’t add a brightly coloured mat or anything other bright colours personally.

To increase light I would consider removing the slatted blind and using frosted window film instead.

I'm not really suggesting you DIY the baskets OP, I just put the link in to credit the source. IKEA probably sells something similar.

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone :)
