Door too big - can it be trimmed from both sides?

Hi,
I bought a door from gumtree but unfortunately it's too wide and too high. I was wondering if it is safe to get it trimmed from both sites? It's got a mirror as well. It's a white cottage door. I have attached an image of it as well.
Any advice will be very appropriated as I don't want to risk it if its going to cause any consequences?
Thank you very much.

Depends how much you need to trim off

Also whether it is solid or hollow. If it's solid you can trim as much as you want, just seal the cut edges, if its hollow you may break into the hollow bit if you trim too much, you could probably still fix it but a lot more difficult. And you will have to refit locks and or hinges

Hi I need to trim 3 inches of each side. The door is solid up to 2 inches on the sides and then it's chip board. I don't know if it's worth it?

I'd say no then!

Thank you for replying. Is it not going to work out cutting it from both sides then ? Will it be damaged and fall apart by doing this ?
