What to paint a sitting/ dining kitchen area

We have knocked half a wall down and now have a sitting room with a half a wall and the kitchen the other side and then an open bottoms half the room. It's a great space but have no idea in colours. Have tried pale yellow and greens but not sure. We have grey kitchen cupboards, wood worktops and red tiles to factor in. It's also quite a dark room so don't want to make it more so. Any ideas?

Off white walls with the dividing wall a deep blue that compliments the red... we have an off white room with a lovely green dividing wall and green backsplash, burnt orange stools and sofas but that won't suit your red which is why I think a nice blue would work well.

Ooh has not thought of a dark wall that's an interesting idea
