What colour cushions?

Living room

Floor - mid brown hardwood
Sofa - dark grey
Curtains - light grey
Furniture - white gloss

Can't afford to redecorate fully right now but trying to make the place look more homely. I've got a light grey rug for the floor but stuck on cushions for the sofa and really don't want more dull grey. Was looking at shades of brown to match the floor but any ideas?

Mustard

Surely pretty much any colour you fancy, seeing as the whole room is currently in neutrals?

A mustard yellow and a forest green might work?

Anything but brown or grey.
If you can't do colour, add another neutral like cream - make them textured for a bit of interest

A mix of colours.

Dunelm are great for cushions. Buy loads to try for colour and return most

Mustard

Yeah, mustard or rusty colour for curtains as well, you'll be pleasantly surprised how much of a difference this will make 😁

Burnt oranges and darker reds. Maybe some leaf greens. Look at Farrow and Ball and Little Greene's latest paint collections because they're the colours that would warm the room up. Easier to see on Instagram.

Red goes very well with grey and indeed all neutrals and will warm things up instantly. Even better if you can add a hint of red elsewhere in the room - glowers or one picture or any other small thing that shows it's deliberate

itsallsohard · 06/03/2025 19:18

By red I mean almost any red from rust through maroon through fire engine btw

Fluorescent yellow and fluorescent pink would look nicely edgy and modern. Then you could add a dark teal in to balance it out.

Don't stick to one type choose some patterned, some plain, some textured. Can't really recommend colours as you need to get the tones right. It's a bit of trial and error.
