Any ideas what to do with this? Pic included

I don't like the random bit of wood going across the extractor fan between the two cupboards. I'm sure there is some structural reasoning behind it but it's just so ugly!

Any ideas that don't cost an arm and a leg would be very much appreciated :)

Ask a joiner to cut the coving and fit the spare to the inside edge of both of cupboards

If you have a saw, you could do the changes yourself really.

There's no structural reason for the wood. It is a decorative trim to make the top of the cupboards look better.

Either you or a local handyman could cut it and use the excess to take the trim round to the back wall so each cupboard is trimmed all the way around. That's how most people would have this, rather than a mad long piece of wood!
