Hi,

Once I went to someone's house and I slept on a bed that was so soft that my body just effortlessly melted into it and i slept so heavenly laying stuc k in it all night! Do you know what kind of mattress this is? It wasn't firm at all.

Kind regards

Lovehearts

I would guess it was memory foam.

Don't do it op. It's lovely for one night as you have experienced but I made the mistake of buying a really soft mattress thinking it would be nice sinking into it. Honestly the backache was awful. Same for my husband. We were both in daily pain. Everything ached and we were moving like we had lived 100 years despite being 30. Spent a fortune on the bloody thing and got rid of it after 9 months. I got a medium firm one instead and honestly haven't had an ache or pain since and my back is absolutely fine.

We have a Harrison Spinks and it’s so soft and comfortable.

Starlingsintheloft · 12/10/2025 14:45

paola3 · 12/10/2025 17:51

I've a wool pocket sprung pillow top mattress from Hypnos (I think discontinued as mine was in the sale). I think I went softer than my last mattress, but it's the pillow top that gives it a really soft top layer you sink into.
People like John Lewis, Harrison Spinks or The Woolroom do similar.
On top I've also changed my pillows and duvet for wool - and I can really feel the difference. No more hot sweaty memory foam...and no chemicals leaching. I really think that wool has changed my sleep.

I'd love a mattress that was quite firm and supports my back - but without springs. Can you get a foam mattress like that ?
