New sofa emergency!

We have a humungous couch which would comfortably seat six slim people. The only person who uses it is our little doggy, who sprawls along the back and woofs at anyone who dares to approach our house. We could of course start inviting guests to the house, but we’d rather get a new sofa. It’s a complete waste of space in our small living room, and we feel after twelve years it would not be considered wasteful to treat ourselves to a new one. We just want a simple two-seater, grey couch. It has to have a sufficiently “flat” back for our mini schnauzer to lounge on, but apart from that, our criteria is simple. We would spend up to £700. It does not have to be fancy. Next couches look amazing. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanking you!

What beeed? Sounds like resource guarding and something you need to get on top of quickly rather than a new sofa.

How did you work that out - the dog barks when it sees people approaching the house. Not approaching the sofa. It is a viewpoint for him. And she said it was a mini schnauzer.

Have you got a other sofa or seating that you use, or do you also sit on the sofa along with the dog on the back - it isn't clear to me from the OP.

If the sofa is ONLY used for the dog and you use other seating then I'd just ditch the sofa, not replace.

I can’t believe that in a forum section entitled, “Home Decoration”, where the question relates to a new couch, you have chosen to focus on the incidental fact that our dog sits on the back of the current couch. We are not asking for advice on our dog. Our dog behaves completely normally and causes no problems whatsoever. My question related to FURNITURE, not dogs. 🙄

What style do you like? Can you post a picture of the Next one you like?

Ikea Ektorp is comfy and very well made for the price, and has removable washable covers which is helpful with a dog.

We've got the older version of this. Very comfy. Family woofer would be comfy on the back of it and it comes in different sizes. Also considered a Next sofa but it came a close second to this.
