Ideas to hide a capped off gas pipe

Redecorating lounge - will be getting this wall skimmed but need some ideas to cover or hide this redundant gas pipe which used to supply gas fire. Will be expensive to have it capped within the wall so just want to make it less obvious.

A usual thing might to box it with wood. My go to is usually to put a plant in front of it if possible.

What about an electical back box and blanking faceplate. It will still stick out but may make it a bit less unattractive.
