Hi.

I want to take down my island extractor fan and replace with pendent lights. My electrician said it can’t be done. Anyone have any ideas?

Needs a photo, if you are allowed to add one after the recent scandal.

But I can't see why not, assuming that you aren't worried about your kitchen steaming up.

The extractor will have (a) a vent pipe running to outside, which needs to be sealed closed and (b) a power cable - which, if it is thick enough cable to run an extractor fan will surely run some lights. The switch might not be in a terribly convenient place, but that is solvable, for example with wifi switches.

And you might need a small piece of plasterboard to be patched in to cover the hole.

Thanks a million. I think our issue is switch power
