Reasonable quote heating system?

Quote for 7x new radiators, including moving the position of two radiators and installing one new radiator in airing cupboard; new boiler installed in loft, removal of old boiler and all piping and hot water tank; power flush; removal of old gas fire and bricking up vent = 7.5k. Is this mad?

I don’t think it’s that mad but I’d get more quotes. We paid less for a similar amount of work but it was mate’s rates from my husband’s friend and without the gas fire bit.

Make sure they’re a registered gas safe engineer, you can check online.

Sounds reasonable to me. The new radiators and boiler will be at least £3000 of that.
It's basically an entire new heating system and also some building work.

Thank you

I know someone who has just had similar work done - although only 4 new radiators. Quote was £6k plus vat.

New boiler in new location (moved from downstairs to upstairs,) removal of old hot water tank etc. 3 new radiators in new locations £3700. Last August.

Printedword · 14/02/2025 12:06

Our costs were around 6000 to put in new boiler in different location and upgrade system. We didn't have all the radiators replaced.

Wow that’s cheap. Did they do a good job!?

Sounds about right to me.

It sounds quite reasonable to me too. That’s a fair bit of labour, not to mention the cost of the new boiler, radiators and pipework.

Yes, really good. I am in South Wales so rates may be cheaper here.

Sounds ok to me. Ask how many days it will take?

Get a quote from British Gas as a comparison? They are usually pretty expensive.
