Paint for adjoining rooms

I have an open plan living room/dining room with access between the two through an archway. I think I’m going to paint my living room in the colour in the photo. Should I use the same colour across both rooms or would a complementary colour work better in the dining room to ‘separate’ them? The dining room gets much more natural light than the living room.
Any thoughts or colour suggestions appreciated - thanks!

How about wall paper in the adjacent room? E.g. white and green stripes?

I hadn’t actually thought of wallpaper! I would need to find one that wasn’t ‘busy’ if that makes sense.

I would paint two different colours. I love that colour, it's very fresh. Usually they have complementary colours on their charts.

I think it depends on the size of the rooms. I have a small house where the sitting room leads into the dining room leads into the kitchen. I've used the same colour throughout.

Suggestions:

  • use the same colour but accessorise the rooms differently
  • use a darker shade of that same green in the dining room (as it's a lighter room).

We have done similar with feature walls in same colour in lounge and dining room and also have a small 3 bed semi (downstairs layout is small toilet/hall area and lounge leading to kitchen diner)

I would have maybe looked at the darker shade idea but this colour annoyingly looks incredibly dark in both the living room and dining room when I’ve done testers! So back to the drawing board - any suggestions for a lovely green like this which is maybe a bit lighter?

Another option is to have the same colour in both rooms but use a bookcase as a divider.
