Bathroom - brass or chrome fittings?

We're planning to update our bathroom, trying to decide between brass and chrome fittings.

Chrome is possibly more timeless, but I do love the look of the brass. But given how trendy it is, will it date the bathroom in two years?

Also, for anyone who has used brass, does it work well in hard water areas? We have black fittings in another bathroom, and these are a nightmare to keep clean because the limescale is extreme, would chrome be the easiest to keep clean?

I would appreciate any thoughts to help me make up my mind!

Uniform brass I honestly think will date, I think shower and taps looks nice but then With the matching towel heater it's too much. I'm all for mixing my metals and will be doing so in my own bathroom Reno.

If brass pulls the whole look together then I think you should go for it.

Gold bathroom fittings might be a trend but there’s a timelessness to beautifully made brass taps in my opinion.

I love brass, and I wouldn't worry that it might date. But I think chrome is more durable in a bathroom and it looks better with some tiles.

I much prefer brass fittings but I don’t like mixed metals. And I found it was hard to get brass on absolutely everything - shower door trim etc only came in chrome. So I went for chrome and I don’t regret it.

We've just refurbished our bathroom, and have opted for chrome. I had brass in my last bathroom, chrome just feels more "now" and timeless at the same time.
