Which paint? Help!

I am so fed up already and I'm going blind to colours... 😂

Time to remove the hideous grey. Boy was that a period choice.

However I can't justify removing the wallpaper for boring reasons, so I'm just updating the paint in the bedroom.

Any of these? None of these?

Help a woman out. The husband is away so now's my time to pounce! (and no, he doesn't care what colour, he's seen the pics and has no preference 🙄).

The green, or the darker of the two blue/greens I think!

PaintDecisions · 02/02/2025 19:56

I'm so torn 😭

Too much flipping choice I think.

I would pick one of the colours in the wallpaper to paint the wall. There are some flowers that are similar to the peachy colour samples.

MrsJHernandez · 02/02/2025 20:03

Personally I like the green because its my favourite colour! But it's also in-keeping with the nature theme of the wallpaper, and pink and green go nicely together.

I don't think any of them go with the wallpaper. The peachy one possibly goes but I wouldn't paint a whole room that colour.

Maybe a dusky lavender colour?

PaintDecisions · 02/02/2025 20:30

My mum said lavender too, but tbh I hate purple unless it's jewel tones....

It's a north facing room so it's cold and not very bright, and I'd like to warm it up a bit visually.

One wall is the wallpaper, one wall is all white painted fitted wardrobes, the third wall is behind the bed and the wall in the photos is the one with the window.

It's really not a big room and so there isn't a huge amount of wall on show if it makes any difference! The curtains are ceiling height and take up about half that wall.

Which shade do you prefer?

Is there such a thing as a warm green?

The second card down? I think that's my favourite at the moment, but I had originally planned green, then balked at the two tests I painted as they didn't come out at all how I expected.

I like the terracotta orange - picks up the orange flower buds.

Yes. A warm green leans more towards yellow. Think chartreuse or olive.

On the colour wheel, when you move towards blue you get a cooler colour, and away from blue are warmer colours.

Colours that are opposite each other on the colour wheel are "complimentary" colours eg, yellow and violet. Colours that are next to each other are "Analogous" colours. Eg yellow, yellow-green & green.

This is the basics of how to use colours together.

The colour wheel really helps when decorating or choosing outfits!

What about an off-white. The wallpaper already has a lot going on and I think adding an additional colour that's not in the wallpaper would be too much.

EdithStourton · 03/02/2025 17:43

What are the curtains like? Is there a colour there that you could pick up?

PaintDecisions · 04/04/2025 19:36

Well, I ignored all advice and plumped for this one in the end! Also new bedding, curtains and radiator.
