Fitted wardrobes saga

I'm trying to organise some fitted wardrobes. I've been to Hammond's and they're too expensive. I've been getting quotes from local trades and they're also really expensive.

I've found a local carpenter who I'm currently haggling with. I'm wondering how do you go about hiring a carpenter?

I've seen pictures of his work and it looks good. He knows exactly what I'm looking for as has been sent detailed designs and measurements.

Do I need to organise for him to come and see the space? He's seen photos of the space.

How do I know I'm not going to be ripped off? Pay a deposit and the rest on completion? Is there any guarantee?

How do I go about this?

I've already had a consultation with IKEA regarding Pax and it will be roughly the same price including fitting.

Hello! Just seen you have a consultation with Pax and Ikea. We used these guys: https://www.instagram.com/ikeapaxhacks?igsh=czgzb3Q4MnRrcW1m

If the link doesn't work, their Instagram name is ikeapaxhacks. They fitted 3 bedrooms in my house for just over £5000 and I was really happy with their work. We paid a deposit and then complete amount upon completion.

Looks great. If I go with IKEA I'll look into them. Thanks
