Ugly (pipe) boxing ruining my open planned living space

The new place I'm moving to shares a kitchen and front room, the space is a rectangle with the entry door on what would be the bottom of the rectangle the opposite wall has boxing for what I can only assume is pipes running the length of the wall, the boxing itself is HUGE. Its 20cm wide by 15 cm deep and to add insult to injury Its got 4 frigging pipes attached to the outside of it. Please tell me how I can incorporate this into the room some how

Diagram required. It's in the rules

Much easier to think up ideas if you provide a photo or drawing..

I cannot tell from your description if this is a vertical box. It is possible that the boxed in pipe is the soil pipe as it was common to have this inside in older houses usually in the corner of the kitchen and possibly why the other pipes are clipped to the outside of it as they didn't want to open that up to hide the pipes attached to the outside.

As above though,a diagram, floor plan or photo would help up us to advise you on what to do with it.
