Which colour rug

Lounge is dark brown sofa, dark brown flooring, black tv unit. I don't know what colour to go for my rug, whatever colour rug is I will get wall decor and curtains to match. I've been looking at these two rugs would either go? If anyone has better options I would love to see!

I would try to see some in real life, both rugs and curtains. Would ideally hope to find one that strongly appealed and make that the basis of my scheme. I would usually opt for a patterned rug to show marks less. So much depends on your style and on the light in your room. If you want to play up the black from the tv unit you could think about a black and white patterned rug with walls and curtains neutral or coffee coloured and add black in accessories. Warmer would be to bring in a dusky but warm pink for walls, a rug with the same pink along with some neutrals. Bolder might be teal for the walls. In either case layering up your chosen palette with cushions, throws etc.

Thankyou this helps a lot! I have been to lion in just really bad with visualising what might look nice and blend well, I always get it wrong

Am useless at posting links but if you google ‘teal and brown rug’ you will get possibilities. There were a few coming up from Dunelm.

A small tip get a bigger rug than the ones shown.
It makes the room look larger.

I have a rather small lounge due to layout so I'm worried if I get a big rug it will make it look even smaller, is that not the case?

Bigger rug and definitely not grey. Aim to bring in warmth and colour. Short pile often lasts much longer.

I like the first one. The pattern on it is similar to how they rake the gravel in Japanese zen gardens. Very calming and restful.
