How much did you pay for your Sharps or Hammond wardrobes?

Hi all, we had someone from Sharps pop round last week to quote for a corner wardrobe including a 2 door wardrobe next to it and some shelves - the quote came to 3.7k. Old numpty here thought ok, that doesn't seem too bad and I pulled the trigger and paid the deposit. Now I'm thinking I've made a mistake as I've seen online that people have been able to get wardrobes from Hammonds which are bigger and cheaper in cost! Is anyone willing to share how much they paid for their wardrobes?

(I'm not interested in the IKEA Pax Hack before anyone mentions it - we tried this in our old house and would like to have fitted wardrobes this time.)

I’ve just paid a similar amount for some Sharps wardrobes in one of my homes. I used them because I’d had good feedback from an ex colleague who’d used them last year. I probably wouldn’t have considered them otherwise - I think my snobbery would have prevented it 🤣. I also got a quote from a local joiner I’ve used before, and while he was £700 or so cheaper I felt Sharps had a better handle on what would work well, and had plenty of styles to choose from.

The local guy was much more of a “let me know what you want and we can do it”, but I just wanted to choose from a range and get it done. No experience of Hammonds, but I thought the Sharps process was very slick, from quote to survey to delivery and installation. Excellent communication throughout. The installation was a done by a very experienced fitter, and I’m very happy with the outcome. The only thing that grated somewhat is that, like kitchens, they seem to start at an artificially high price and then discount heavily to make it look like a good deal!

I am also looking at Sharps/Hammonds. For 3.7k could you tell me what items of furniture were installed? Thank you

We've had a large set of wardrobes and bedroom furniture from Hammonds. It was the worst experience I've ever had. The 3 day fitting time was a joke. Yes the single chap from Hammonds did manage to throw up two wardrobes, a dressing table, and two chests of draws in the allotted time but after he left we reported 38 fitting defects. Hammonds took 6 months to rectify! One wardrobe door was replaced 4 times. There was paint spraying in the house and unending missed appointments by Hammonds people coming 'look', 'report', or repair.
In the end we got the Ombudsman service involved.
I'm still on blood pressure tablets! Awful, awful, awful (and there are not cheap)

I paid similar for Sharps about 5 years ago so that seems reasonable. Their work was great BUT they promised to 'utilise every inch of space' (this was my main reason for picking them) and then took the piss by trying to put a standard wardrobe into the space and block off all the surrounding gaps that would have lost tons of useful little spaces! We had to complain hard to get them to come back and open up all the extra spaces and make them useable. Like it may only be 3 inches extra on one side of a divided hanging space, but at full length, that was exactly the space I needed for my wedding dress and a couple of full length dresses... I needed those 3 inches!! 🤣 But the work itself is very good quality and worth the money. Agree that they quote high and then you have to negotiate down so it helps to have a quote from Hammonds and an independent joiner as well.
