Room Layout Help

Currently planning the reconfiguration of our downstairs and just trying to get the layout of this room right. What do you think of this floorplan I have tried a few different layouts and this is the one I have ended up with but not sure of its weird with the sofa not facing the fire place.

Its the middle room in a victorain terrace ( kitchen at back and lounge at front)
The room is quite a dark north facing room closed off from other rooms and the top right door will be a double french door leading onto the non converted side return.

So we have a lounge at the front and wanted to use this room as a cosy snug a place for kids to watch tv but also have a desk in it for wfh.

The layout shown below is built in alcove bookcase in top left then chimney breast with fireplace (you cant really build anything in top right alcove as the door is right against the wall)

The right side will have a samsung frame tv either on wall or small sideboard( hopfully the rest of the furniture is self explanatory.)

Does it look too cramped? I know the desk and the sofa are close together but they won't be used at the same time. We are just trying to fit a 2m sofa in so more people could watch tv and also have a decent size desk for wfh.

The architect put a v small sofa on the back wall and a large desk on the left wall which is quite good from a space point of view but we want more seating.

Its a bit hard to even try anything out as the room currently contains a kitchen. But want to get the layout nailed so we know where to put the sockets and radiator(s)!

Any opinions welcomed!

Have you thought about a corner sofa in the bottom left corner and using the alcove with the bookcase to have a built in desk?

Yes! I did try that and that is an option also but but I think the issue is finding a corner sofa small enough. Most of the ones that small are the chaise ones which don't seem much more seating And I think potentially you would want the main part against the back wall which doesn't give great tv viewing!

Also the alcove is 90 cm so maybe slightly cramped. But it is still an option.

Don't want to go down the route of the tv on the chimney as it will be too high! gah I think I need a bigger room or a seperate imaginary room for the desk!

I agree with a corner sofa. John Lewis do Gplan vintage which are a smaller scale. The 1968 might work
