Just completed a mutual exchange from a new build to an older property so don't have much experience of mold. Stripped back the wallpaper and saw this. Does it look like mold?

Is this mold?

yes that's mold: air circulation issue, rising damp or roof. with a little time and close observation you will have a better idea of the cause.

Yes, that looks like mould to me. Probably caused either by lack of ventilation, or it is an outside wall that gets very cold so there's condensation on the inside.

It just looks like a grubby old wall to me. How old is the house?

The ceiling looks unusual, what is above it.
Is the property of standard construction and did you have a survey during the conveyancing process

Are those your shelves? Because they are 😍.

If you don’t want them, put them on eBay please.

( yes typical mould under old paper, but give it a quick wash down with bleach solution and it will be fine, especially if you are repainting so the wall can breathe)

It's the shared wall with the next door neighbour. Funnily enough the two outside walls didn't have mold under the wallpaper. I won't be wallpapering at all, only painting walls in the house to let everything breathe.

It was a mutual exchange through housing associations so the property supposedly had an inspection before the swap but I don't think they looked at anything as there are so many faults everywhere you look!
