We bought a house 5 years ago that hadn’t be decorated since the late 90s. We have redone the bathroom and toilet and replastered, repainted and recarpeted all the bedrooms. I have a list of things I want to do, but in what order?

i. Replace boiler and radiators
ii. Replace windows
iii. Replace flooring downstairs
iv. Put in new kitchen (which probably involves knocking down a wall).

TIA

This. Though if you’re knocking down a wall and reinventing the kitchen, you’ll need to decide in advance about radiator placement there, if that is going to be affected.

I'd probably do the kitchen first as it is the worst mess.

Then do the windows as they are the highest up, the next messy and will increase heat retention from day 1.

Then boiler and radiators, if the locations don't change they are pretty good at putting new pipes in with minimal damage. When we did ours we changed the radiator location on several walls and it made a huge difference to the house temperature.

Then finally the flooring.

Windows first because it’s like you’re sealing the house properly from the outdoors!
Boiler and radiators next because that will involve pulling up floorboards and removing wallpaper.
Kitchen and potential wall removal would come next because that would wreck all the lovely new flooring if you put that down first.

Getting traders round to do quotes takes bloody ages! Just bear in mind.

I would do windows first but we had to wait 6weeks after agreeing on price for them to be fitted. Do haggle the price of windows- one quote £3k another quote £4k!
You could also do the kitchen first.

It doesn't matter when you do the windows as it won't impact on anything else.

Boiler and radiators first because the floor will need to come up for the radiators.

For the best possible finish, you should rip the kitchen out, get any plastering or first fix stuff done. Get the kitchen floor in, get the kitchen installed, tiling and worktops, then second fix electrics.
