Living room flooring

I need help deciding what type of flooring is best for my living room. We have a very old carpet in there ( too many years than I care to admit to) which has been brilliant and very serviceable but very tired now. We have one dog, two teenagers and a cat who just recently has started to have wee accidents in the room. Our furniture is brown, some of it Victorian, and the colour scheme is cream and duck egg. ( I wouldn’t be changing these even if I redecorated.). It is a through lounge diner, 27feet long. What sort of flooring would you recommend with these constraints. Also do not have a big budget which is probably the biggest constraint of all! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would go for engineered wood (with 3 to 5 ml of oak on ply) with a rug in the living area. So much easier to keep clean. Warmer than floorboards.

The cat element is a challenge! Think I’d be going for some kind of bathroom suitable LVT like this for the assurance that nothing grim is going to soak into anything.

And washable rugs. And a second litter tray in the vain hope of the cat having fewer accidents?

Thanks for the suggestions all. I am thinking perhaps the vinyl as I do worry how wood would cope with the cat accidents. It is only occasionally but it still might affect the surface.
