Big beige tiles in bathroom - floor to ceiling

Hi
Can't afford to redo the bathroom and it could be worse.

The suite is white with large beige tiles covering all walls.

Do you think painting the ceiling a dark colour would make it look more interesting.

I would like to hang pictures but not sure they would look very nice on a tiled wall.

Floor is dark 'fake wood' lino.

Beige with white sounds nice and calm, not sure a dark ceiling is going to bring much to the party?

Are you bored with it? I think a pure white floor would transform it – obviously it would cost more than painting a ceiling but depending how big the bathroom is and how keen you are on DIY it might not have to cost a fortune

Thanks for the reply. I guess it would be ok if it was brand new - it's just a bit shabby after probably 15 years. Maybe it just needs a really good clean!!

But cleaning sounds less fun than changing something!

Having said that, redoing the silicone bead around the bath was quite satisfying - so much nicer without those little bits of mould you can’t bleach off.

But now I’m going full Marie Antoinette and contemplating a new toilet seat and maybe an insanely fluffy bath towel too

Id do this ( guessing a bit with no photos )

fit new Lino over the top of the flooring ( if it’s flat enough you don’t have to lift it, a fitter can advise )

improve the lighting - this will make the biggest difference

fit a large new mirror and storage

New blind, towels etc

Thanks both.

I have similar but floor is white and black tiles. Sort of Moroccan. I added black bathroom cabinet, mirror and accessories & towels and an expensive big light and small wall
Lights - spent circa £400 - looks incredible now

Agree with the lighting. Do you have any plants to easily bring some colour? We have large statement plants with recessed uplighting in two of our bathrooms for an 'eco retreat' vibe.
