Money or space no object,
which oven configuration would you prefer

  1. Large oven, combi small oven, and built in coffee maker
  2. large oven, combi small oven and warming drawer
  3. 2 large ovens, combi small oven, warming drawer
  4. 2 large ovens, combi small oven coffee maker

it is a 4 bed family home.

3 but I like cooking

Strokethefurrywall · 09/01/2025 18:53

3 ovens or 2 large ovens and combi with warming drawer

festivemouse · 09/01/2025 19:08

2 large ovens, warming drawer, coffee machine for me!

LightCameraBitchSmile · 09/01/2025 21:44

Agree three, there's no advantage to a coffee maker being build in - it's a pain if it goes wrong!!

whensmynexthol1day · 09/01/2025 21:50

I have two single ovens and two warming drawers. Do a lot of cooking and only once or twice have thought an extra shelf might be good (although have made it work anyway) so two large ovens would be ample. Warming drawers don't fit quite as much as you'd expect I think so two would be good- eg one for plates and one for serving dishes.

Agree don't get a built in coffee maker as if it goes bust (as they often do) you're stuck with having to replace it with far more limited options than having freestanding

I have 2 large ovens and a combi small oven and would always keep that if I could.

Have a warming drawer but don't use it. Also have a steam oven which I've never used.

Fuckthecamelyourodeinon · 09/01/2025 22:40

I have 3 and a steam oven as well.

MulberryPeony · 10/01/2025 07:16

3 I use the warming drawer more than I thought I would. Rarely use the steam oven but if main oven breaks I’ll move over to it. Annoying thing is if one unit breaks you might need to buy two new to keep it consistent. We’re on our third microwave/combi (although we never use the combi part) and it probably won’t be replaced under warranty again :(

CMOTDibbler · 10/01/2025 07:25

3- it seemed outrageous when we put it in the kitchen design (and the two dishwashers) but I have zero regrets, and it is surprising how often we use all three

MumonabikeE5 · 10/01/2025 08:11

Do you bake? Warming drawer
do you love coffee? Does the machine you are looking at make coffee like you like it?
Hiow Is your cooking?
do you envisage making multiple dishes at different temperatures?

inhave a large range cooker, but now you an air fryer /halogen oven / instant pot a lot, and wish I had a good cupboard for them instead of more oven space.

PlanetJungle · 10/01/2025 08:12

2 large ovens and a microwave, in-built coffee machines were always broken when I visited showrooms - space is always a premium regardless of cash available, you want a small triangle to work in.

ComingInByAnsible · 10/01/2025 08:33

We have just gone for two large ovens, microwave and warming drawer.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 10/01/2025 08:33

I’ve got 2 large ovens a coffee maker and a small oven /microwave combination. I love keeping things off the work surface so having the microwave built in is great. We use the small oven quite often because there’s only the two of us but having loads of oven space is really helpful when all the family come over which is quite often. As you’re looking at appliances I’ll just add I also have 2 dishwashers. It took some persuading to get my husband to agree to that but he wouldn’t be without them now. No matter how many people we have over they can cope.

Just to add my small oven/microwave has a warming setting.

Or if you don't have large numbers of people over, get a dishwasher with two drawers, reducing the whole dishes by the sink waiting on the dishwasher to finish it's cycle thing,

@PlanetJungle , that’s definitely an option if you’re short on space but I’m hoping my two dishwashers will mean that one day when one inevitably breaks down I won’t have that heart sink moment where I have to unload a dishwasher full of mucky stuff and wash it by hand.

CatherinedeBourgh · 10/01/2025 11:05

I second two dishwashers, if I had to I would give up an oven rather than the second dishwasher.

SnowballSandwich · 10/01/2025 11:06

I've got two ovens and a microwave. I was talked out of a warming drawer and regret it.
Was talked into two dishwashers and regret that too. We hardly ever use both and often people put things in the 'wrong' one which is a PITA.

parietal · 10/01/2025 11:14

Option 2 is plenty unless you are often cooking for 20

Hols23 · 10/01/2025 11:29

Option 3 although I'd just get a microwave rather than a combi oven. I love my coffee but wouldn't buy a built in one.

PrincessOfPreschool · 10/01/2025 11:58

I have just put in a large oven and a fairly large combo microwave (it's about as big as a small full size oven). I'm slightly regretting as large oven is so big I can get everything in. I am also considering an air fryer mostly for DS1's (19!) beige food. If I get that I'll use the oven a lot less and if I like it and start using it for some of our smaller oven meals, I'll hardly use the oven. So... I think I would err on less oven and more cupboard (not one of your options) or a separate micro (I think they are better than the combi).

museumum · 10/01/2025 12:00

2 would be fine for us. Maybe 3.
would never build in a coffee machine. Best coffee machines go away for any repair/servicing so definitely shouldn’t be built in.
