When is it best to lay a new kitchen floor before or after the kitchen?

Having a new kitchen. Flooring runs throughout the kitchen, hall and downstairs toilet too so the whole lot would need to be done at the same time. It is very old, nice enough but desperately needs doing. The cost of both and stress of doing both is putting us off doing either. Kitchen more pressing. So would want to do floor a year later.

Is it ok to do the floor after?Thinking there could be an advantage to laying after as if there was a flood ( not likely)you could replace the floor again without damaging the kitchen. However not keen with it not running completely under all the cupboards but kitchen guy says this is common.

Depends what sort of flooring you are laying. There are benefits of both. Make sure the flooring goes underneath any appliances when it is fitted though or they are impossible to get out when they need replacing. Also the kitchen might need to be fitted a tiny bit higher to account for this so that the flooring can run under the kickboards and appliances.
