Hi all
We have this diagonal wall in dining room, I sourced this chair off Facebook as I wanted extra seating alongside table and chairs, it usually has a throw over the top, anyway I had a frame on this wall but it looked lost on the space around it, so found this on FB and painted it, I love cream and woods. However I don't know what it is but I just think it looks odd?! I didn't want a floor standing unit and all the other wall units I was looking at were expensive. It's just an odd wall and not sure how to decorate it, or does it look fine the way it is? Thank you

I think it looks fine! I would have done a floor standing bookcase (built in if poss) to fill the whole wall, with the chair in front.

Turn the chair so the back is against the "join" of the wall and put a small table by it. I think it's the way the chair and the shelf are both in the middle of the small wall that looks odd.

I think the chair over-emphasises the quirky walls space and looks strange sticking out like that. I like the unit though. Personally, I would put the chair in one of the 'corners' (where diagonal wall meets normal wall) and a small side table in the other kind of facing towards each other as a little reading spot. The current wall shelves would then be between the chair and small table, creating a triangle.

If that impacts space in room then remove the chair.

Is this any better?

I think others are right in that the chair needs moving to the side of the wall. If nothing else, you would bang your head on the shelf I think if you sat in the chair where it is. Also the empty bottom shelf of the unit is crying out for something on it.

Yes, that looks great! and is practical!

That's a lot better. I might angle the chair slightly more towards the table, hard to tell the angle from photo - so you're creating that triangle.

Much better. 🙂

I always find it amazing how a small change can make all the difference.
