Fabric for curtains or curtains

stargazerlil · 05/12/2024 11:24

Have quite a few curtains to make or buy, where can I get good reasonably cheap fabric or curtains on line. I like the dorms kind with heavy lining or can make my own if fabric is ok.

Hi, OP. We can see your thread didn't receive any replies in the Shopping topic, so we'll move it over to our Home Decoration board now to see if you fare better there...

I’ve just bought some ready made ones from Dunelm I wanted thermal and and blackout. I got the Jennings and Luna which are a nice quality heavier fabric than some of the others. Both had a good selection of shades to choose from although they are just plain curtains they had lots with designs on too. Far cheaper than made to measure. John Lewis also have a nice selection of ready made curtains but also like Dunelm have a made to measure service.

I usually buy curtains from Dunelm, decent quality and range. For fabric I use Terry’s, they have a vast range of curtain fabric, all the other bits and pieces that you need and useful instructions.

Osbourne and Little often do a big factory sale in Battersea and I’ve purchased so much fabric that is beyond my budget from these sales, sign up to their mailing list, and to other companies, such as fermoie (who do similar in. Wiltshire) you need to go ready to be decisive, so have measurements ready, and colour swatches you are matching to etc in hand. As you can’t dither.

is also worth a visit if it’s within a reasonable distance - it’s huge, there is lots of choice, and you can think about thinks as it’s not a “sale”

ive also purchased fabric on eBay.
again you need to know your quantities
and it’s perhaps better for smaller blinds etc

If you’re happy to make your own, I’d really recommend checking out foy & co – they have a great selection of curtain fabrics, including heavier-weight options perfect for lined or blackout curtains, and the prices are very reasonable.

I’ve used them before and they were really helpful when I wasn’t sure how much fabric I needed – you can message them directly for advice.

They also offer samples, which is great if you want to check the quality or colour before committing. Definitely worth a look if you want something more unique than the usual high street stuff!
