Hi all, total long shot but does anyone have the Hammonds wardrobes in Rialto, Seton or Willesley ranges that could send me a picture? Would love to see more pictures than are on the website. Many thanks

Hi,

I was looking for the same ranges now, but have not decided whether to go with them or not, just have the designer here gave e a quote. Not sure whether it is good or not. Two double wardrobe was quoted 3600 Willesley range, with all discounts in.

You'll get them a lot cheaper through a local carpenter.

A Little late for Bella1905 but for others thinking of Hammonds ...

We were taken in by Hammonds. Looked great in the showroom, designer person appeared competent, brochures etc look professional - but did we regret it!

Fitter was beyond incompetent leaving over 30 defects to be fixed by the 'remedial' crew. They were not much better and we were in dispute with Hammonds for months. They promised a 3 day installation and we couldn't move back into the bedroom for 5 months with people coming and going with wrong parts, paint spraying, and filling the house with dust from machining MDF.

Had to get the Ombudsaman Service involved in the end. Awful just awful !!

I requested a brochure on Thursday night.
They rang me 5 times yesterday and twice today.
Has put me right off.

Just thought I'd add to this. We got a wall of timber door wardrobes earlier in the year. I do like it but:

  • The original design guy was rubbish, got the measurements wrong and lied outright when asked specific questions.
  • Their fitters are contracted rather than employed and you can get a bad one (sales guy lied about this)
  • Drawers only come in certain widths and aren't fully bespoke (another lie) so you can end up with filler panels around your drawers which are just a waste of space. I would say I lost approximately 50% of space compared to the drawers in the IKEA Pax I replaced (the drawers also have less capacity even without the filler panel issue).
  • The survey guy I got was competent but grumpy and dismissive. The original proposal from the sales/design guy turned out to be completely unworkable and the initial plan from the surveyor had much less capacity and looked terrible. I had to spend ages convincing the surveyor I understood the constraints and then he worked with me to produce an acceptable design. If he'd been less helpful (eventually) or less competent I probably would have tried to get my money back at this stage and I don't know if that would have been possible.
  • I got a reasonable fitter, he did a good but not outstanding job. Some things aren't as well finished as I'd like but only marginally.
  • The sales discount thing is ridiculous and feels like it's illegal given that they never don't have a sale. I pushed for a 65% discount but view it more like a few percent off the actual number.

So in conclusion I wanted a fitted wardrobe and got one I like. The main downside is the loss of capacity due to the small drawers. And I got lucky with the guy who did my survey and a reasonable fitter, this may not always be the case.

I didn't really want a local guy making something with MDF as I have those elsewhere and don't love them. If I were to do it again I might just go the pax route and get alternative doors and the whole thing built in by a carpenter. I think that would cost about half of what I paid Hammonds but maybe wouldn't look quite as solid and consistent.
