I am looking for a warm throw for the sofa to keep me cosy this winter. The problem is that I am really sensitive to itchy/rough things. I got a lovely looking wool one last year but I don't use it because of the itchiness.

It depends what fabrics you want perfect I love a Sherpa fleece and brought some lovely ones in Asda a few weeks back. I had to visit a larger store though.

Maybe a cotton quilt with a hint of velvet?

The Kirkton House throws (can't remember if they're from Aldi or Lidl) are glorious, soft, warm. Mine is polyester, which is not something I normally would buy, but it is fabulous. Fleecy fluffy on one side, velvety on the other.

The Asda ones I brought are velvety one side and Sherpa on the other was only £12

TKMaxx have some lovely silky knit ones. Usually lots of choice there.

Try a faux fur one, TKMaxx usually have some great options.

Dunelm Seriously Soft 220cm x 220cm, lots of colours, £20, 100% polyester.

I have the same problem as you OP with itchiness, and have been so pleased with this throw. It is very large and really is extremely soft. Machine washable.
