Thoughts on picture shelf’s? Nice or dated?

I ask as I often miss noticing when trends become dated looking. I feel they are quite nice to frame a wall above a sofa for instance. But not sure if they are a sort of fashion thing from 10 years ago?

Is that a shelf with framed photos on?

Yes that’s it. Or some bigger framed prints - art work. Or perhaps the odd small plant/ ornament

I don’t know. I’ve got my photos hanging in a group in the wall, mainly because its easier with cats, but I don’t know if that’s dated either - I just go for what I like.

I just put up a picture shelf in my very small lounge. It’s cute & added some interest above the sofa. I like that I can change the pictures when I’m bored. My sister just added two above her much larger sofa as well. Might be dated (judging by how long ago some of the articles I saw were written) but it suits our room.

ETA: my sister’s shelf is wider than mine, about 12cm so she can add small pots, candles etc. Be sure our room is so small I wanted a narrower shelf. Mine is 8cm & can only hold pictures. So bear that in mind if you end up getting one.

I like them. Easy to swap things out when you get bored too.
