Would this rocking chair go with this conifer sofa? The sofa doesn't seem to have a matching arm chair so I thought I may as well get something a bit different rather than trying and failing to get a match from somewhere else. No idea on the quality though. I love the idea of snuggling on it with a book with a soft rock.

I think they'd look okay together. Hard to say without knowing what the rest of the room is like and how they'd be styled.

Cantbreatheeasy · 16/11/2024 08:56

I really don’t think they do go, what colour are the walls and floors? What light fittings do you have?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 16/11/2024 08:57

That rocking chair looks very uncomfortable for anything other than curling up with a book. Do you have the space for a single purpose chair?

(And, no, I don't really think they go together.)

MontyPythonSnake · 16/11/2024 09:01

OK thanks. I'm using this style to replicate. But obvs not the blue sofa, I want the sofa to be the conifer green as above. But now I'm not sure if the cream rug I was thinking of will go. Because cream cushions might not go with that green.

What colour cushions do you think I should go for? I guess I should get a rug to match the cushions.

Here's the rug I was thinking of...

I definitely want the black assesories. I ll get black picture frames and a black lamp. The floor is slightly more yellow than the pic I am copying. Not sure if that makes a difference

I think the chair would be better in a bedroom rather than a living room, I don’t think they go, what a statement chair to match the rest of the room?

Gonk123 · 16/11/2024 09:02

I don’t think they would go…

Pat888 · 16/11/2024 09:05

Rocking chair is fine if you like studying the ceiling😂
I wouldn’t have a rocking chair if you have young DCs. They can get their feet squashed under the rockers and rock too fast hitting surrounding walls, siblings etc

letstrythis · 16/11/2024 09:07

Now I see your inspiration pic I do think they go together.
I would break up the cream of the chair with a throw or cushion though

trickyex · 16/11/2024 09:12

The sofa is very nice and looks quite mid century. I would look for a vintage chair with an interesting shape rather than trying to match it.
Go and browse local second hand shops and antique centres.
I think the chair you linked to looks uncomfortable and rather unwelcoming.

artant · 16/11/2024 12:00

In my opinion, that chair really, really doesn’t go with the sofa. It also looks uncomfortable and generally badly designed.

namethisbird · 16/11/2024 12:10

That rocking chair is awful.

Looking at your inspiration picture I would go for something similar. A more structured occasion chair would be better.

MontyPythonSnake · 16/11/2024 12:20

@Pat888 oh yeah until you said it I didn't realise how backwards it is.

OK I take all your points about the rocking chair, I'll drop that idea.

I think I'll take my time with finding a chair and do that in person once I've got the sofa.

What colour cushions will go with that sofa? As I need to match the rug with it.

OP, a lot is going to depend on the colours of the walls, the type of flooring, the rest of the room — you could put literally any cushions on that sofa, but a lot depends on the vibe you want.

MontyPythonSnake · 16/11/2024 13:20

@SlightlyGoneOff the vibe I'm going for is the pic on my second post, slightly boho, I want lots of green leafy plants. The only differences are the colour of the sofa and the floor is slightly more yellow here it is:

Well, if you want the exact look of the photo, just replicate the cushions. The cushion colour has nothing to do with the sofa and will work equally well with your colour. It works because it’s the same warm white/cream as the walls and the warm white rug, and the dark zigzag on the rug works with the black frames on the pictures and other accessories.

RickiRaccoon · 16/11/2024 18:28

Any neutrals (browns, creams, whites, greys, blacks) will work with most things including that couch. You'll probably have enough green from a couch and plants and could do the rest neutrals but you could introduce a little in a picture or two or an ornament to carry it through.
