Wooden floors on landings

Does anyone have wooden floors on their landing, and potentially be open to posting some photos, please?

We have tile and solid wooden floors downstairs, wooden staircase, solid wood flooring in bedrooms, but carpet on the landing. I’m not a fan of carpet- we have very hairy pets so I’m constantly vacuuming. The hard floors downstairs are so much easier to keep clean, and just feel more hygiene. I also prefer the look of wood over carpet.

My concern is that it could be quite loud- the landing is large and goes over our kitchen/diner/livingroom and also our sitting room which are the areas we spend most time in.

Just wondering if there’s something other than solid wood that would be better, while giving the same effect?

We have wood floor everywhere except bathrooms which are tiled, with runners on the stairs to prevent slipping. It’s fine. No noise from upstairs unless the kids are really jumping and then I’d tell them to stop it!! Wouldn’t hear anyone walking normally until they reach the original Victorian staircase which is creak central!

Thanks @InTheRainOnATrain , it sounds lovely.

Assuming your staircase is also wooden, did you have the wooden floors put it at the same time as the stairs and do the woods match?

We had wood block flooring on stairs and landings in our old house. Looked wonderful and was quiet.

My DC have ADHD. It would be horrendous with hard floors upstairs, they are running and jumping all the time.

Our first set of stairs are original, painted with a runner so don’t match the floors. The wooden floors are the same throughout the whole house ex bathrooms and stairs but unfortunately a dupe as the original boards were lost well before we bought the house. The stairs to the loft conversion are newer obviously but we chose to have them match the original stairs so again painted with a runner!
