what colour / temperature bulb for spotlight on wall art?

If it makes a difference, the picture is a mostly blue seascape

if so, I'd recommend getting hold of some warm white and cool white/daylight bulbs and swap them out to see the difference. And there will be a difference depending on the tones involved.
Warm white is always more popular, but, if your picture is mostly blue and bright then the cool white/daylight bulbs will definitely bring out the colours.

Unfortunately we already have a ceiling mounted directional spotlight which is old school halogen, which has yellowed with age. I am about to swap it for a new LED one with a narrow beam bulb.
I've bitten the bullet since originally posting and gone for a 3000k warm white and I'll report back...
