Bedding sets - high quality, not white, where from?

Looking to get a new duvet set. I have one that I love but is wearing out - it has a heavy, slightly textured pattern on, and a slightly shiny but not at all slippery feel.

I have no idea where to buy from. M&S/John Lewis/Next etc just seem to have ones with a 'cotton' feel - I want something slightly softer. And most 'high end' places seem to have very little pattern choice. I don't want plain white/grey/pastel.

Budget not really an issue - maybe up to £400 for a set??

Any suggestions please?

I used to live in Australia and got a liking for Sheridan bedding (available in the uk). The high thread count sets are a nice weight and they do different colours but not seen many patterns.

Secret Linen is great quality. I’ve bought several sets from them over the years.

heldinadream · 10/11/2024 17:01

Joe Brown's- the clothes people- have got some gorgeous 100% cotton ones, very reasonable prices too.

steelseries · 10/11/2024 17:02

I disagree about Secret Linen, the stuff I've had from there has been crap and their customer service even worse.

How about Piglet in Bed?

Dunelm have some lovely sets

BoobyDazzler · 10/11/2024 17:08

I really rate Ikea bedding. They do some cheap stuff and some lovely 100% cotton ones, we’ve had some of our sets for years and years!

Brand Alley?

Dunelm have some expensive, high quality options.

Soak and Sleep

The Dunelm premium range is Dorma which is nice, the rest of their bedlinen is as rough as a goat

Wow thanks for so many quick replies. Lots of places I haven't heard of/wouldn't have thought of. Joe Browns and Dunelm have some lovely options. Sheridan too - will look up a few stockists.

Mine are dunelm and really good quality for a reasonable price, nothing close to your budget.

If you want really high end I visited a silk loom in Indian and they ship direct to the U.K. around £200 depending on design plus shipping and any import duties. I suspect you can get cotton too this way. This particular place supplied Liberty!

I'm very happy with my bedding. It's all organic cotton from Heals. It's very well made good quality and washes well.

Sprig1 · 10/11/2024 17:34

TkMaxx often have lovely sets.

NoIdeaWhyNow · 10/11/2024 18:21

I've got a couple of Sara Miller duvet sets and they're soft with colourful prints. Bought them from Charmed Interiors as they were the cheapest.

iamyourequal · 11/11/2024 19:28

@AgathaChristmas I would recommend Dunelm too, as they have a good range of Dorma bedding at the moment and it’s lovely quality and certainly not all plain or white. Beautiful textile designs.

We got a Dorma one recently from Dunelm and it's gorgeous. It's patterned and is not grey/white/pastel, plus if you have a shop nearby you can actually see and feel the duvet covers, rather than taking a punt on something online.

The only thing I'm not sure about is that the covers are zipped, and in my experience zips are always the first thing to fail on an item.

Piglet in bed. It’s expensive so I get it when in sale

Bluebellied · 11/11/2024 21:06

If I had that kind of money to spend on it, I’d go to Piglet in Bed. I get mine as a mix from Dunelm, Ikea and M&S. Dunelm have some reasonably priced linen bedding that is very soft. I might get some for Christmas.

AceofPentacles · 11/11/2024 21:11

Designers Guild - definitely not plain, lovely quality

minerva7 · 11/11/2024 22:01

La Redoute have some gorgeous natural fabric sets at good prices.
Any bedding I have bought from them has been great quality and lasted well.

lordloveadog · 11/11/2024 22:06

Toast. Love all the ones I’ve got from then. Such a massive step up
